According to current figures from the BfArM, cannabis imports for medical and scientific purposes in Germany have already reached a new record in the third quarter of 2023. At the end of September, the annual volume of imports from the entire previous year was just exceeded.
Accordingly, 24,881 kilograms were imported up to and including the third quarter. In all of 2022 there were 24,876. The BfArM takes both flowers and the amount of flowers required to produce the extracts into account.
Imports from Canada increased again significantly and are already at 11,734 kilograms - for the whole of 2022 it was 8,077 kilograms.
Portugal again comes in second with 3,458 kilograms. Denmark (2,225 kilograms) is again ahead of the Netherlands (2,197). However, imports from Denmark fell significantly compared to 2022 (4398 kilograms for the entire year).
Colombia, on the other hand, made a leap with 923 kilograms from 230 kilograms in the previous year.
Exports from Uganda, on the other hand, collapsed. After 1,149 kilograms in 2022, it was only 149 kilograms by the third quarter.
In the third quarter of 2023, a total of 8,740 kilograms were imported - more than in any single quarter before. And sales to pharmacies are already almost at the previous year's level at 14,312 kilograms.
